Captive Blood

“There is some comfort in knowing I’m going insane. After all, it could be worse…this could be real.”

Anne Riley Perish has been hearing a voice no one else can: the voice of Captain Zachariah Wickham, the man she’s written about since childhood when her mother disappeared. For all the books she’s filled about the sky-faring hero, she never once conceived he might be real or that his enemies may come for her one day.

Now, kidnapped with her estranged father and loyal best friend by the captain’s rogue crew, she’s dragged into a reality beyond her wildest dreams. Sailing skies upon The Ember Wick, Anne must navigate realms with perilous rules for time and death in search of a way to bring Zachariah back from the unknown. She must do so, however, before all worlds are lost to a waking evil.

The Author

Dear reader,

Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Shaybrookes.

I currently live in Colorado, where I spend most of my time writing at coffee shops, walking while reading, and admiring the mountains.

I love traveling, learning new skills, and seeking opportunities to serve God and others. Before my time on earth is done, I hope to give something wonderful to this world; I can think of no better way to do so than through writing.

Since childhood, I’ve dreamt of being a published author, and while I always hoped my charm and small talent would be enough to make this happen, I’ve been assured it’s also necessary to develop an online presence. I figured the best way to start one is by writing about my life pursuits.

And therein lies the theme of this domain: a life dreamt and lived. Here, I hope to achieve my goals, describe my experiences, promote my writing, and encourage others to bring their dreams to life.

I hope you enjoy your time here.
